map

The Overture map

Our map is a curated guide to stimulating places that you’ll enjoy whether or not you decide, once you get there, that you’d like to meet someone new. To make the most of the countless, uplifting experiences you can have in New York City and beyond, the Overture Map is a great place to start.

Guest List
and
nudging

Guest List and nudging

When you’re registered and present at an Overture venue, you can see the guest list there. Whether you read the list to find someone, or look through it for someone you’ve noticed, use the list to send a nudge. Each nudge lasts seven minutes, or until it is withdrawn or accepted. While one nudge is pending, the sender can’t send any others. We’re not interested in popularity contests. We want to promote meaningful connections, one at a time.

The
roulette
Feature

The roulette Feature

The “roulette” feature allows users to nudge a random guest. This feature is for users who want to talk but don’t want to scrutinize the list. The timing and rules apply equally to random nudges.

Meeting coordination

When a nudge gets accepted (the recipient clicks “accept”), Overture has done its job and it’s time to drop the phone. At larger venues, Overture gives users an optional three minutes to communicate about where to meet. (Otherwise, there is no texting on the app.) After these three minutes, texting times out.
